My thrift shop haul and how I might use it with Polymer Clay
Hi. I tried a few polymer brands, but the polishing process does not work. The surface remains matte. Which brand of polymer do you use?
Hi, thanks for watching. I mainly use Sculpey Premo clay, the soufflé clay will get a sheen but not as much as the normal Premo clay.
@@tjaysilver Thank you very much. I will try.
Thank you 😊 What’s the brand of the last little one? Where can it be ordered?
Thank you for watching. It is a Makin’s, here is a link for one I found via searching on google. www.georgeweil.com/clay-and-plaster-and-modelling-tools/clay-extruders-disc-sets/ultimate-stainless-steel-extruder/
hello wonderful video could you show us how you made the dangle earrings featured in this video they look lovely
Hello, thank you for watching. If I remember rightly I just laid some of the cane on top of some clay and then using a cutter I made the earrings, inserted an eye screw in each (quite along time ago, hard to remember, sorry) and then baked and once cooled added some ear wires. They really were very basic earrings and I’m sure if you searched easy polymer clay earrings here on YT you will find a video.
Do people buy these books?
I have sold some yes but I’ve not made any in a while. Thank you for watching ❤️
Oh a cane I can finally make.
I’m with ya! It’s so much fun. Thank you for watching ❤️
Looks great!
Thank you for watching!
nice work¡
Thank you!
Hola cómo cocinó la arcilla de la caja.? . Le quedó muy hermosa🥰👏👏
Firstly I am sorry you think it is “muy hurmosa” ;very horrible in english), I will take a look again at the video and see what you mean by cooking the clay?
Ok I pre baked the box for about 15 minutes just in case there was any glue and to completely dry the wood and then I baked the clay on the box. Thank you for watching.
Can you use fimo professional clay through this extender? I only like to use fimo professional but it is firmer than sculpey premo
I have used Fimo professional through it before with no issue, I would suggest you condition it well first.
@@tjaysilver thank you!!! 😊
Thank you
Thank you for watching 🙂
Very nice tutorial ❤😊
Thank you for watching and the lovely comment.
Love your manicure, that nail color is perfect!❤️ Thanks for the earring tutorial, I’ll have my daughter make a pair when she comes to visit next month. She should be able to create a pair. 💕❤️
Thank you my friend 😘❤️
Love your earring design… simple, but elegant! My Gem Putty doesn’t have a skull on the lid (brilliant idea), but plan to adorn it soon!❤️
Thank you my friend 😘❤️
Nice❣️
are polymer clay extruders dishwasher safe?
I don’t see why not although they do have a little rubber opting at the end of the plunger and I don’t know how well that would do in a dishwasher. Thank you for watching.
When the clay comes out of my extruder it has cracks as if it will break, even though I condition the clay for several minutes with my hands and pasta machine, why is this?
I noticed with the clays that had sparkle in they can be quite dry and it can cause cracks but you can smooth the cracks out by gently pushing it back together. The clay really needs to be soft to prevent cracking also holding the extruder horizontal whilst extruding helps too.
@@tjaysilver thank you for your reply! The clay doesn't actually have sparkles or glitter in it🤔 But I saw in another video she recommended adding some drops of liquid sculpey to the clay beforehand so I will try that 😊
@@joc6555 I can also recommend the kato clay softner as it’s not as messy I find
Oh I was so pleased to see this!….I bought the inka gold set years ago ! Will have fun using them. Lovely tutorial.👍💕🥰🇬🇧🐶
Thank you for watching. Just a little tip regarding the inka gold, if you can scoop a small amount out using a spoon it such like rather than putting your fingers directly into the product it will help preserve it, it can produce mold if you use your fingers. Also if it dries out use a little water (spray bottle is handy) to revive it. ❤️
Your nails are beautiful!! But…..how can you manage to keep them that nice when working with clay? Love this little bottle it is really sweet.👍🥰💕🐶🐶🐶🇬🇧
Thank you! I guess you just get used to them and work with them. They are short right now as I’m just giving them a break. ❤️
Isn’t it funny!…..I’ve just starting on clay again and I’ve been doing cards for years, I was thinking of trying embossing and maybe dies(not in my die cutting machine)😂 I see this is old video but it’s coming up end Nov. Just finished watching the football! Great game. Have subscribed.👍👍💕🥰🐶🐶🇬🇧🇬🇧
Excellent. 👌💕
Thank you!
Great stuff, just found a tin of this in the shed. 👌💕
Just give it a good shake up and maybe try it out on a piece of baked scrap just in case it has a shelf life. Can’t believe it’s been five years since the video lol!
Awesome technique! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you and thank you for watching.
Hello from Houston! I’ve binged your channel! Thank you for the great tutorials. Excellent!
Hello from the UK and thank you for “binge” watching my videos. I hope to make some more soon.
Could you leave a link to the type of buffing burr you are using please?
Hi Claire, firstly thank you for watching. The burrs I use for polishing are like these and you can get them from here, www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery-Tools/Wool-Pendant-Wheel-prcode-999-ACO But possibly from Amazon too. My tool is a Clarke but you can get equivalent easy enough on Amazon, I don’t know what this one is like but it will give you an idea. Hi-Spec 121 Piece 130W Corded Rotary Power Tool Kit Set with Dremel Compatible Bit Accessories. Drill, Cut, Trim, Grind & Sand in DIY Repairs, Hobbies & Craftwork amzn.eu/d/6DJhkWQ Best to do some research, I have had my Clarke for over 5 years and it is still going strong. Hope this info helps.

This is so incredibly neat! Now I see the work it takes to keep your pattern...I always loose my pattern when I cover items.
Thx for tips, Im about to do my first journal today…ur work is fabulous btw

Beautiful pendants. i love the Deep shine alot!

Found this four years later and so glad I did! Thank you for sharing your ideas combining Polymer clay and embossing folders. Just made a Christmas ornament using this method. Lovely!
Thank you for watching! The embossing folders can be so versatile ❤️

I enjoyed the video. I bought some Born Pretty jars from China and by the time I got them I forgot what they were for 🙄 The only thing I will say is I would have liked to see the pendant you made after it was baked. Thank you for the video and such clear instruction.
Thank you for watching and I am sorry I didn’t show the finished pendant, can’t think now why I didn’t. The powders are really lovely especially on dark clay.
Can the rotary tool be used to buff renaissance wax?
Yes it can, I use a hand tool similar to a dremel with a soft burr for buffing up my pieces with or without renaissance wax. Thank you for watching!
What is the name of the sand paper you use.
Quite awhile ago but I just put, flexible wet & dry sandpaper in Amazon but, any good hardware store should be able to help. Thank you for watching ❤️
That’s a beautiful pendant! Thanks for the tips!
Thank you!❤️
That pendant is beautiful...I love that heart too ♥

Great job, Tracey❤️

Very pretty, thank you
So good to see another of your videos! You do beautiful cane work.
Aww, thank you so much!❤️
Fun little project! And that cane is stunning! 💜💜💜
Thank you Frank. I did correct my mistake where I said the gap between the two pieces of clay was too small, I had put text that says “Oops to small not big” but for some reason it didn’t show on the video 🙄 I am trying to put some shirt techniques up to one help others and also to help me with editing. Thank you for watching 💜
Hello! I have several embossing folders and will try it on Sculpey Polymer Clay. If I want to use some chalks to color the clay, and then bake it in the oven, will the chalks come off the jewelry at all, or is the chalk permanent once you bake the piece in the oven? Thank you.
Hi Linda, thank you for watching. The embossing folders work great. The chalks will also work but unless you can really sort of burnish them into the clay I would recommend you use a sealer, I think sculpey do a Matt finish varnish but you could also use silk or gloss, just brush on carefully do as not to smudge the chalks. You can also buff up the clay, once cooled, with a piece of denim or a small buffing burr on a dremel type tool, I use a Clarke and that helps to seal it but like any surface effects unless you actually seal with varnish it could show some wear if handled a lot. Hope this helps. ❤️
The box is stunning! Looks like Klimt.
Thank you!💕
Tfs. Watching this again after a few years.
Excellent work :) Have a fantastic day :)
Thank you so much ❤️
What do you do with your brushes after?
With the brush on UV resin I wrap my brushes in tin foil, wrap them well, if you do want to clean them you can use a good dish soap. Thank you for watching ❤️
@@tjaysilver Thank you! I didn’t know you could also wash it with dish soap, its a great help ❤️
@@YubiChan5 either dish soap or an antibacterial hand/face wash is good too!
